1976

In 1976, eight entrepreneurs left their secure corporate jobs because they believed a microprocessor had the potential to change the world. HCL Infosystems was formed.

1978

HCL designed and launched India’s first 8C microcomputer, around the same time as Apple

1980

A decade that saw HCL grow relentlessly. In the early years, BIT SLICE, a 16 bit processor based microcomputer was launched

1983

HCL indigenously developed RDBMS networking OS and client server architecture. With these in hand, HCL convinced thousands of SMEs to embrace computerisation, which resulted in unprecedented sales

1988

HCL developed a fine-grained multiprocessor UNIX, 3 years ahead of Sun and HP

1990

Known as the years of consolidation, HCL Comnet (currently the Infrastructure Services Division) was launched and it went on to pioneer Remote Infrastructure Management

1993

The first order was Asia's largest stock exchange - National Stock Exchange

1991-96

Hewlett Packard JV develops multi-processor Unix for HP and heralds HCL's entry into contract R&D

1996-2013

Forges distribution alliances with Nokia Cell Phones

1996-2003

Collaboration with Perot Systems established

1999

HCL Technologies was formed

2000

In this decade, HCL touched new frontiers and entered into JVs and collaborations that further strengthened its position as a global IT leader

2001-2005

HCL went on to set up the first ever Indian BPO Global Delivery Centre in Northern Ireland (for British Telecom)

2005

Entered into a JV with Deutsch Bank and created the Flight Management Systems for Boeing 747s

2008

AXON was acquired and HCL went on to be recognised in North America and Europe as the 'Leader' in Data Centre and Workplace IT services, as adjudged by Gartner and Forrester

2014

HCL Healthcare was formed
