Response to Covid-19

At HCL, we have always been highly aware of our responsibility towards the nation and are committed to provide all possible support to India’s response to the COVID-19 challenge.

We believe in taking tangible and measurable steps to tackle the urgent need of the hour and our response to the pandemic is also built around this approach. We are extending our support to the State Governments in their efforts to contain the spread of the disease as well as helping the marginalized communities.

OUR STRATEGY

HCL is taking tangible steps and has devised a holistic strategy which includes support towards:

  • Supporting the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration with an Integrated Control Center to respond to citizens’ queries on COVID-19. The “all-in-one” control center will include processes for following up and reporting of all unconfirmed, suspected, foreign return cases as well as mobile tracking and monitoring for all home quarantine cases basis inputs from official government authorities.   • The Government of Tamil Nadu has partnered with HCL to set up a state-of-the-art Disaster Management – Data Analytics Center to strengthen the State’s disaster management efforts in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic. HCL is also helping improve and expand the state’s disaster management helpline (1070) through technological upgradation, manpower assistance and effective reporting mechanisms.   • HCL supported Government of Karnataka to setup an Emergency Call Centre for COVID-19 for State of Karnataka providing telemedicine and referrals for testing. You can read about it here
  • HCL Foundation, along with WHO and UNICEF, is supporting a COVID-19 Online Academy by Sphere India. This is being used for training of volunteers, health workers and other front line workers on COVID-19
  • Awareness Generation and Information Dissemination of COVID-19 messages approved by Directorate of Health GoUP in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Over 6000 villagers and front-line workers are being sensitized through these messages.
  • Pledged 607 Ventilators to the Government of Tamil Nadu and two ventilators in the Vijayawada district of Andhra Pradesh
  • 550 litres Sanitizer and Wash Basin (Leg Pedal) to City Health Officer, Coimbatore Corporation
  • 1,00,000 PPE kits to the State of Uttar Pradesh,
  • 1600 PPE kits to Madurai Corporation in Tamil Nadu, 100 PPE kits for doctors and paramedical staff at Stanley Government Hospital, Chennai, and 14,500 PPE Kits to City Health Officer, Coimbatore Corporation
  • 20,000 3-ply masks to City Health Officer, Coimbatore Corporation, 100 Kits (with masks & gloves) for Police staff and NGO volunteers in Chennai and 15,000 face masks to Noida Authority for sanitation workers in Gautam Buddh Nadar
  • Self Help Groups (SHG) women are being trained to stitch masks – 2,100 masks prepared and distributed in Nagpur and 100 khadi masks being distributed daily through UPSRLM in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
  • Supporting with both cooked meals and well as dry ration kits in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Chennai, Nagpur, Pune and Vijayawada
  • 10,000 – 20,000 hot cooked meal packets daily (as per notified requirement from Govt. Dept.) for the marginalized communities through Gautam Buddh Nagar District Administration. Over 4.2 lakh meals have already been served as part of this initiative.
  • 3,500 – 5,000 hot cooked meal packets (basis requirement) for the marginalized communities in Chennai through Greater Chennai City Corporation. Over 54 thousand meals have already been served as part of this initiative.
  • Dry ration kits provided to 4,100+ families in slum communities of Chennai, Lucknow, Vijayawada, Nagpur & Pune (1,500 in Chennai, 1,514 in Vijayawada, 700 in Nagpur, 350 in Lucknow, 84 in Pune)
  • Medicines, emergency services, caregiver salaries to care for 200 elderly people in SHEOWS Garhmukhteshwar Ashram
  • Feeding over 3000 animals every day through our NGO partner in Noida and 100 stray animals in Bangalore

HCL has formed a special task force to monitor the situation proactively and respond to requests coming in from the State machineries as well as our NGO partners.
