Shri Akhilesh Yadav addresses inaugural batch of HCL’IT CITY’ Lucknow

Creation of 1000 jobs for Lucknow residents in a year

Lucknow, India, 13thApril, 2016–Shri Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Shiv Nadar, Founder & Chairman – HCL & Shiv Nadar Foundation, today addressed the first batch of trainees at the state-of-the-art HCL campus coming up in Lucknow. The large gathering comprised of students, parents, faculty, HCL leadership, senior government ministers, officials and bureaucrats. HCL had earlier this year, announced the commencement of this initiative in Lucknow which will create 1000 local jobs in a year. These jobs will also potentially create indirect jobs of equal magnitude in the city.

HCL Lucknow will be based out of the ‘IT City’ at Chack Gajaria, Lucknow. Conceptualized as a ‘Sustainable” IT City, the area is covered under special economic zone (SEZ) to boost IT investment. The IT City is one of the many ambitious plans of the State Government to develop Lucknow as the IT hub of the region and is expected to create thousands of job opportunities in the state

Addressing the large audience, Shri Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “The Uttar Pradesh Government is committed to the economic development and providing more opportunities to the young workforce of the State. UP has the advantage of having the largest population, an asset that we want to convert into a highly productive workforce through initiatives such as this one with HCL. I would like to congratulate HCL on investing in the upskilling and employment of the local youth.

Leveraging the skilled talent pool available in the city, we can make HCL Lucknow a pride of the IT industry, puttingiton the global information technology map. The creation of HCL Lucknow is in line with HCL’s strategic vision to expand and create opportunities in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative is driven by the availability of quality local talent and scalable infrastructure. HCL Lucknow aims to have a gender equal workforce, with at least 50% of the local hires being women. It will provide local residents an opportunity to pursue global careers in IT right from their own city.
